We the Resurrection People
Fourth Friday of Lent
‘The godless say to themselves, with their misguided reasoning:
“Our life is short and dreary, nor is there any relief when man’s end comes.”’
I find it really easy to be weighed down by what’s going on in the world and around us. The hardships, tragedies and the noise can take their toll and stick in my mind. Like the people who do not know God from today’s reading from the Wisdom of Solomon, we can be tricked into believing the world is a dreary place. By doing so, we fail to see God working in the world.
But we are the Resurrection people! And we are sent out into our workplaces, schools and communities to be a light to all nations and bring God’s Good News! We know life on this earth is short, but it’s not dreary! God does not want us to live a boring, dreary life, He wants us to have life and have it to the full, both in Heaven, but especially here on earth!
There is so much incredible beauty in this world that our hearts are always seeking! This life and beauty can be found in Jesus alone, the only one who could know us and love us completely. As Saint John Paul II said, ‘It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted.’ So don’t get caught up in the world’s idea that this life is dreary and dull. Jesus is right here with us, offering out His hand, to lead us into the fullest, most exciting life we could ever imagine!
